Improve Your Memory: Give the Brain a Workout

One thing that all humans have in common is the need to process and recall information. Our minds are constantly consuming and retrieving knowledge from the time we are born. By the time we reach adulthood, our brains have millions of neural pathways that help us process knowledge and execute complex tasks with minimum effort.

But if you always stick to the same tasks day in and day out, the mind will weaken. The brain is like body muscle – it loves a challenging workout! These five simple exercises will help sharpen your mind and enhance your memory.

Improve Your Memory: Give the Brain a Workout

1. Test your recall

Make a list – of supermarket items, important dates, tasks to do etc. – and memorize them. See how many items you can recall an hour later. Keep adding more items to increase the challenge level, so that you can improve each time.

2. Do mental maths

Work out calculations in your head without the help of pencil, paper, or a smartphone. You can up the difficulty level by performing other tasks at the same time - preferably ones that involve repetitive steps like washing the dishes or taking a walk.

3. Draw a map from memory

This is a great exercise for the directionally-challenged. After returning from a new place, try to draw a map of the area. Repeat this exercise each time you visit a new location and you can reduce your dependency on Google Maps.

4. Test your taste buds

At mealtimes, try to identify individual ingredients in your food by taste and smell. As a bonus, this will encourage you to eat slowly and enjoy your meal.

5. Do something new

Monotony is the worst brain-killer, so do something new every day. Change your seat. Talk to the new person at your office. Listen to different music. Try an unusual dish. Take up a hobby. Travel by a different route. Small actions that are a break from the usual routine stimulate the mind and keep it fresh.

The human brain has an amazing ability to adapt and change even in old age. This ability to reshape itself holds especially true for learning and memory.

In this article we mainly described about five simple mental exercises that people of all ages can use to sharpen their memory, they are:Recall tests, Mental maths, Mapping from memory, Taste tests, Doing new things.

This is an approach that one will take in many others areas of their life, and it will stop them from having to suffering unnecessarily. While there are some people who can change their behaviour if they need to, there are others who are unable to do so. When this happens, they can come across as the same no matter what is taking place. This is not to say that they won't have moments where their behaviour will change, but this will be the exception as opposed to the rule. As a result of this, they can be seen as someone who is only able to behave in a certain way. Restricted Now, just as certain tool is not got to be used for everything, it is also not going to be possible for one to express themselves through only behaving in a certain way. Thus, when one is in this position, it is going to cause them to hold themselves back. The behaviours they need to function in this world are then not going to be available. From The Outside Still, this doesn't mean that other people wi...

If you didn't read the post please check it out because it's a huge problem that affects all businesses and organisations. Having highlighted just how difficult it is to be productive and why, here are 7 things you can do straight away to get more done with your precious time. 1. Set a timer I do this all the time and am in fact doing this right now. Set the timer function (probably under the clock app) in your phone to 50 minutes. Add a sound alert and turn the phone face down on your desk. That way your attention won't be pulled away if the face lights up because you've received a text or some other alert. You now have 50 focused minutes to carry out your task. Of course you need to set your mindset too to say that when the timer is going you won't divert from the work that you need to ...
